An Indian-origin couple, Anuradha and Vikas Sinha, has donated $20 million to the University of North Texas (UNT), where they pursued their education. The landmark contribution is aimed at strengthening education and research in emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), advanced analytics, intelligent systems and data science.
The university plans to use the donation to launch initiatives focused on AI and Advanced Analytics. A college named after the Sinha family will also provide students with opportunities to study areas including cybersecurity, information science and library science.
Setting an Example for Immigrants in America
The Sinha couple said through their contribution that immigrants can do more than simply benefit from the opportunities offered by the American Dream—they can also contribute to its growth and help create opportunities for future generations.
Their donation is expected to support cutting-edge research and provide students with access to advanced learning opportunities in technology and data-driven fields.
Previous Contributions to UNT
This is not the first major contribution made by Anuradha and Vikas Sinha to the University of North Texas.
In 2024, the couple supported the establishment of the Department of Data Science. They also contributed in 2025 toward the creation of an Innovation Lab for Data Science.
Their continued support is focused on creating better academic and research opportunities, particularly for students pursuing careers in technology, data science and emerging digital fields.
From India to the United States
The Sinha family moved from India to the United States and pursued higher education at several American universities.
Vikas Sinha earned degrees from Florida Atlantic University and also studied at Northwestern University. In 2023, he earned a PhD in Information Science from the University of North Texas.
He currently serves as a Vice President in the Mainframe Software division at Broadcom and has been a member of the UNT College of Information Leadership Board since 2023.
The couple's latest $20 million contribution highlights how successful immigrants are increasingly giving back to the institutions that helped shape their careers while investing in the next generation of technology and innovation.
